What my life is like now:

ok, so Jenniffer Trottier inspired me to be a bit more specific! My life right now is crazy busy! Full time work, full time school, I'm a Girl Scout Leader, Reunion Committee Member, and also part of some other community service organizations - much to my husband's chagrin. "What new thing are you taking on now?" he laments! My son plays baseball and my oldest daughter is in cheerleading so that takes up my time also. But I wouldn't have it any other way! Luckily, my husband is a painting contractor and makes his own schedule so he is a great help!

The road to here was not one that I planned for my life. I never planned to not finish college the first time around. I never planned to be married more than once. I never planned to still be living in the valley. I never planned to have to stare death in the face and wrench my youngest daughter away from it three times.

As far as college goes, well, it seems that my social life got in the way. Then I was a SAHM and then owned my own businesses after that so it didn't seem neccesary - until the housing market fell. I went back to work because we needed the benefits and a steady paycheck while we rebuilt the painting business. Now it seems important.

When I got married the first time, I was determined to make it work - no matter what. I felt that I'd made a smart decision, prayed and prayed, and not just followed my heart. Well, I'll just say that over time people change - and not always in a positive way. I only left when I was faced with no other choice. The happy ending then came in the form of a virtuous man strong enough to hold me and two little kids and then to add one more little girl.

One more little girl with a very rare and very serious heart defect. The kind and knowledgable thinking tank of doctors said, "We don't know why this happens, hereditary or environmental? We just don't know. We can't fix it, but here's what we can do to make it better." So 30 hours after Rhiannon was born she underwent the first of three stages of open heart surgery. The second was when she was 4 months and the third just this past month! She sailed through all of them with flying colors to the doctors delighted astonishment. I firmly believe that it is because we were knowledgable about her condition, ever present and committed in her recoveries. That and I was determined to love her through every minute and that by force of will, she would not fail. BTW - ever read "The Secret"?

These unexpected twists that my life has taken have only contructed a stronger inner core and have made me appreciate where I am today. I have had to learn the hard way that, though I am a a control freak planner, I can't control everything and I have had to find the inner resolve to deal with life unexpected detours!

Advice that I'd give to my 16 year old self:

Everything is not life and death at this age! Spend more time with your family - they wont always be around. Expand your horizons and realize that your life doesn't revolve around who you're going to the dance with on Friday. Don't ever stop being so brave that you go after whatever you want. Just say no to the parties at Cal Poly and go back to your room to do your homework! Finish college the first go round! Don't be in such a rush to get married, and don't obsess about your weight - you're hot!

Funniest High School Memory:

These are more fun than funny:
I remember having the best time out at the Ag farm and being in FFA. There was so much freedom out at the Ag Farm and going to the fair all week to show my lambs was awesome. Being a flag girl and going on band trips to Disneyland and Great America. Being on the Jr Sr Prom committee. Decorating the memorial building was so much fun. I had a great time in high school!

Favorite Teacher:

Mrs. Warner (now Simpson), Mrs. Bucz, and Mr Kouklis

One thing that I never did in High School that I wish I had:

-Concentrated more on my homework and not saved it till the last minute - uh...still doing that!

-Not flunked out of PE (for not dressing out) so I could have stayed on the cheerleading squad my Jr and Sr year.

-Joined the swim team.

-Kissed the boy who got away!

Kyle, Kyra, Annie and I at the Visalia Race Track. Kyle is trying hard to look like a disaffected tween.

We took this in our living room Fourth of July after watching fireworks. We all had on Red, White and Blue but Annie had to change into her favorite Tinkerbell jammies the moment we walked into the house. You can barely see me but this is a good family pic.

My hubby Jon and my brother Tim (some of you may remember him as a skinny kid, but not so much anymore) the night Tim came back from serving in Djabuti, Africa with his Marines. OooRah!
